My Life In Travel

Posted on Mar 16, 2013 by in Travel | 0 comments

First holiday memory?

Tagaytay sans the establishments. Taal Volcano was eye candy from any
point in the ridge.

Favorite place in the Philippines?

White beach (or sandbar). For some reason, I have a soft spot for
coastlines facing the Pacific Ocean. Maybe it’s the azure water.

Best holiday?

Iligan City, Lanao del Norte. The vicinity has twenty-plus waterfalls.
I don’t know if there is any place in the Philippines (or the world)
with that distinctive feature.

What have you learnt from your travels?

That there are lots to see in the Philippines, but the best sights
might be found in Mindanao. It’s the locals, be it from the north or
south, who makes the country special, though.

Ideal traveling companion?

Family or buddies, without a doubt. But solo traveling has its perks
too, namely you’ll make more friends and know more about yourself.

Most daring trip?

Okbot Cave in Kapalong, Davao del Norte. My guides and I crawled and
almost submerged in water pools in able to pass through narrow
entrances. (The passageway varied because of the rock formation and
stalactites.) The cave was also the resting place of banakon (king
cobra). Good thing we went there at noon time.

Holiday reading?

I tried (to read) a novel, but I could only finished a few chapters.
So the iPad (to check e-mails and the news).

Better to travel or to arrive?

I’ve been to seven destinations in 2008, so I have no problem sitting
on the plane. (As long as I’m in the window seat. )

Worst travel experience?

Tudaya Falls in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. I have no idea that the
place was cold and (often) raining. I didn’t bring warm clothing, so I
was sick a few weeks later.

Best hotel?

Bethel Guest House in Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete City. Lovely place,
nice view outside.

Best meal?

In Iloilo. A visit won’t be complete without tasting batchoy. Bibingka
(near Molo Church). Biscocho. Barquillos. Merengue.

Where next?

Dipolog and Dapitan, but I don’t know when, as I want to visit some
places in Asia. Vietnam later this year, and Myanmar early next year.
